Greetings from The National WWII Museum

February is Black History Month and this year more than ever there is a sense of excitement throughout the country. Why not capitalize on this fact by scheduling the museum’s Double Victory: African Americans in WWII Virtual Field Trip? This videoconference explores the triumphs and tribulations of African Americans who fought for freedom aboard and civil rights at home.

The exhibit provides a unique educational experience, with interactive features that invite students and teachers to explore issues of tolerance, citizenship, and civil rights during WWII and in our world today. The exhibit is presented in New Orleans by Chevron.

FREE exhibit admission, guided tours, and transportation stipend for area school groups to this exhibit is made possible by The Eugenie and Joseph Jones Family Foundation. BOOK YOUR FIELD TRIP TODAY: call

National History Day returns to Louisiana

The Museum is pleased to announce that it will serve as Louisiana's sponsor for National History Day. Because we are just starting the process of sponsoring National History Day in Louisiana, we will not coordinate a full state contest this year. That means there will be no regional competitions in which to compete. Instead, the National WWII Museum will host a single state competition. Winners from that competition will be eligible to attend NHD at the University of Maryland, in College Park, MD.

The Louisiana state-wide competition will take place at The National WWII Museum on Saturday, May 2, 2009.

You can use these student creations in the classroom and then email them to The National WWII Museum and we’ll post them on our website to share with students across the country.
